COLDSPRING — The last meeting of the San Jacinto County Commissioners Court in 2025 saw the acceptance of nominees for the two emergency service districts.
At the Dec. 22 meeting, County Judge Fritz Faulkner said that traditionally, there’s five members on the boards, and each of the commissioners designates a nominee. For this time, members for Precincts 1 and 3 were nominated in each district.
In ESD 1, Roger Samoff was nominated by Precinct 1 Commissioner Luke Sweeney, and Carson Combs was nominated by Precinct 3 Commissioner Crystal Dominy. Both were approved unanimously.
In ESD 2, Lisa Hayman was nominated for Precinct 1, and Mickey Culpepper for Precinct 3. Both nominations also were approved.
In other business, commissioners:
- approved a contract with Polk County to house prisoners at $65 per day;
- approved professional services agreements with Stanton Marsh Appraisers for $600 per appraisal for work connected with grant funds;
- approved a plat revision in the Rolling Hills subdivision;
- gave its annual approval on a contract with WorkForce Solutions of Texas for work-based learning;
- approved renewal of surety bond for County Auditor Margie Ainsworth;
- approved the purchase of an electronic record-keeping system for the jail nurse;
- approved the purchase of two patrol vehicles;
- approved a request for the video magistrate system;
- took no action on the purchase of a jail transport van; and
- approved the purchase of a mobile workstation for $808 for the detective squad.
