Culvert replacement project begins

Eight locations in the Lufkin District to be upgraded

LUFKIN — A project to improve drainage and replace aging infrastructure at eight locations in the Lufkin District will get under way this week.

Frisco-based contractor Icos Management LLC will replace eight culverts in seven counties. Weather permitting, this project is expected to be completed by later winter or early spring 2026.

The replacements will be done one at a time. Traffic control will be implemented at each site before the work begins.

Culverts in the following locations will be replaced:

San Jacinto County

  • FM 222 between SH 150 and the Camilla Community

Trinity County

  • FM 3188

Angelina County

  • FM 1818 at Biloxi Creek between FM 58 and Hines Road
  • FM 2021 at Crawford Creek between Ransom Brown Road and SH 103

Houston County

  • FM 228 at Crawford Creek west of the Percilla community

Sabine County

  • SH 21 at Maddox Creek between FM 330 and FM 3448

San Augustine County

  • U.S. 96 between FM 1277 and SH 147

Shelby County

  • SH 87 between SL 500 and FM 414

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, watch for workers and equipment, and obey all traffic control in these areas.
