COLDSPRING — The spirit of the season was alive and well on Saturday as San Jacinto County gathered for the annual Christmas on the Square celebration in downtown Coldspring.
From early morning until well after sunset, the area surrounding the historic County Courthouse was filled with holiday cheer, laughter, and the sights and sounds of Christmas.
Highway 150 in front of the courthouse was lined wall to wall with vendors, showcasing handcrafted gifts, seasonal décor, and local specialties from across the county and neighboring communities. Food trucks and bake vendors kept families warm and well fed throughout the day, offering everything from hot meals to festive Christmas cookies and treats.
A highlight for many families was a visit from Santa Claus, who spent time listening to children’s wish lists and posing for photos. Young visitors also had the opportunity to have their pictures taken with Santa and cheerful gingerbread characters, creating memories that will last long after the decorations come down.
Local artisan Julia Kennerly was among the many vendors featured, displaying and selling her handmade jewelry. While she often shares her work at Livingston Trade Days, Christmas on the Square remains one of her favorite events to connect with the community during the holiday season.
As one of San Jacinto County’s most anticipated annual events, Christmas on the Square once again drew thousands of attendees from throughout the region. Festivities began at 9 a.m. and concluded with a dazzling Christmas Lighted Parade, putting the perfect finishing touch on a day filled with holiday magic.
Once again, Christmas on the Square proved that it takes more than busy schedules and winter weather to slow down the Christmas spirit in San Jacinto County.
