Coldspring High School celebrates graduation in packed stadium

COLDSPRING — If there was anyone left in downtown Coldspring on Friday evening, they certainly weren't there for long. By the time the Coldspring High School Class of 2026 graduation ceremony began, it seemed as though the entire community had gathered at Berlin Bradford Stadium to celebrate the graduates' accomplishments.

To say the stadium was packed would be an understatement. Every seat in the stands was filled, and additional chairs were brought in and placed along the track to accommodate the crowd. Family members, friends, teachers, and community supporters packed the stadium to witness one of the most important milestones in the lives of the graduating seniors.

Adding to the evening's atmosphere was near-perfect weather. A gentle breeze swept through the stadium, providing relief from the late-May heat and creating a comfortable setting for an unforgettable night.

The ceremony began with the AFJROTC Presentation of Colors, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Iliana Freeman and the Texas Pledge led by Cali Crowder. Jason Daigle delivered the invocation, setting a thoughtful and reflective tone for the evening.

Coldspring High School Principal Courtney Robison, herself a former student of Coldspring High School, welcomed graduates and guests. The introduction of the Board of Trustees was presented by Joel Madison, followed by the recognition of Teachers of Influence by David Rowe and Sarah Dannar, a tradition that allows graduates to honor educators who made a lasting impact on their lives.

Members of the graduating class then took center stage. Ashlynn Holley delivered the Historian Address, reflecting on the memories, friendships, and experiences that shaped the Class of 2026. Salutatorian Tess Phillips and Valedictorian Brayden Coker followed with inspiring remarks that celebrated the achievements of their classmates while encouraging them to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.

The highlight of the evening came as graduates crossed the stage to receive their diplomas from Principal Courtney Robison and Superintendent Dr. Bryan Taulton. With each name announced, cheers erupted from the stands as proud families celebrated years of hard work, determination, and perseverance.

The ceremony concluded with a benediction by Averi Tucker, bringing a memorable evening to a close.

For the graduates, Friday night marked more than the end of high school. It marked the beginning of new journeys. Some will head to colleges and universities, others will enter the workforce, military service, or technical careers, but all leave Coldspring carrying the lessons, friendships, and memories that have shaped them.

As the graduates tossed their caps into the air and embraced family and friends, one thing was clear: the future is bright for the Coldspring High School Class of 2026.
