SAN JACINTO COUNTY — Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 59, south of Shepherd, that occurred Tuesday, Aug. 19.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 10:46 a.m., a 1999 Motor Coach Transit Bus and a 2018 Toyota Sienna were traveling north. It is reported that the Motor Coach failed to control its speed, struck the Toyota in the rear, and pushed the Toyota into a concrete barrier.
The driver of the Motor Coach, 39-year-old Albert Dauzart of Natchitoches, La., was not injured. Forty-five occupants in custody of Lasalle corrections were transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Jail for observation of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as 44-year-old Abid Prasla of Sugarland, was not injured.
