SHEPHERD — The energy is high, the roster is deep, and the determination is undeniable, the Shepherd Lady Pirates are ready to make 2025 their breakout season. After a summer of intense preparation and a strong showing at tryouts, this team is locked in and focused on one thing: winning.
Senior leader Callie Dean shared her excitement for the new season: “We had a great turnout this year, and that gives us a real shot to build something special. We’ve got talent, energy, and a serious drive to win, we’re ready to go!”
That excitement is shared by Coach Randee Maze, who’s seeing the kind of depth and dedication every coach dreams of. “We had over 30 athletes try out this year, which is a big jump from previous seasons. It gives us more options, more competition in practice, and ultimately a stronger team on the court,” Maze said.
The Lady Pirates are already putting in the work, with their first scrimmage set against Chester this week. Coach Maze noted, “We’ll be experimenting with some new offensive strategies to attack early and set the tone right out of the gate.”
After a tough season last year, the Lady Pirates are determined to bounce back, and they’re not just looking to compete. They’re aiming to dominate.
“We’ve been grinding all summer, conditioning, practicing, staying focused,” said Dean. “We’ve got the experience, we’ve got the hunger, and we believe this is our year to make a playoff run.”
