The Coldspring Lady Trojans turned in one of their most complete performances of the season on March 31, rolling to an impressive 11-1 victory over New Waverly.

From the very start, Coldspring set the tone at the plate. In the bottom of the first inning, Jasper Williams, Olivia Lee, and Camry Barton each delivered RBI hits to quickly build a 3-0 lead and put the Lady Bulldogs on their heels. The offense stayed hot as the game progressed. Coldspring extended its lead in the fifth inning, highlighted by a run-scoring single from Williams and a powerful two-run home run off the bat of Krissie Bennett to make it 6-1.

The Lady Trojans then put the game out of reach in the sixth inning with an explosive five-run frame. Williams doubled in a run and later scored on a sacrifice. Bennett added another RBI double, and both Camry Barton and Abby Murphy chipped in with run-scoring singles to cap off the dominant night.

In the circle, Cassidy Loll delivered a strong and steady performance to earn the win. She went six innings, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out six and walking none, keeping New Waverly’s offense in check throughout the game. At the plate, Coldspring was relentless, piling up 17 hits as a team. Williams and Loll set the tone in the lineup, each collecting three hits, while Bennett and Williams drove in three runs apiece to lead the offensive surge.

The production didn’t stop there, Ciara Phillips, Olivia Lee, Camry Barton, and Abby Murphy all recorded multiple hits, showcasing the depth and consistency of the Lady Trojans’ lineup. Defensively, Coldspring was just as sharp, playing error-free softball. Bennett led the way with six chances in the field as the Lady Trojans backed up their strong pitching effort.

It was a different story on Friday, as Coldspring, locked in a tight contest throughout, fell just short in a 6-4 loss to New Waverly.

Coldspring struck first in the opening inning when Olivia Lee came through with an RBI double to give the Lady Trojans an early 1-0 lead. However, New Waverly answered quickly, taking a 2-1 advantage in the bottom half of the inning behind a pair of RBI hits. The back-and-forth continued as Lee delivered again in the third inning, ripping her second RBI double of the night to tie the game at 2-2. But once again, New Waverly had a response, reclaiming the lead in the bottom of the inning with a run-scoring double, followed by an RBI single to stretch the lead to 4-2.

Despite continued pressure at the plate, Coldspring couldn’t quite close the gap down the stretch. Cassidy Loll turned in a solid effort in the circle, going six innings while striking out five and walking just one. Offensively, Olivia Lee led the way with a standout 3-for-4 performance and two RBIs, while Krissie Bennett added two hits of her own. Defensively, the Lady Trojans were sharp, playing error-free softball, with Taonna McGraw leading the team in fielding chances.

Shepherd

The Shepherd Lady Pirates delivered a commanding performance Wednesday afternoon, rolling past Tarkington 10-0 in a decisive district victory.

Shepherd controlled the game from the very first inning and never looked back, combining timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and strong pitching in a complete team effort. Skyleigh Lagow led the offensive charge with a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with singles in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Her consistency helped set the tone for a Lady Pirates lineup that kept constant pressure on Tarkington’s defense.

Shepherd struck first in the opening inning, taking advantage of a passed ball to plate the game’s first run. They added another in the second inning, capitalizing on a productive at-bat by Adison Simpson to extend the early lead. The Lady Pirates then broke things open in the third inning, scoring three runs to take firm control.

Karsyn Wiley delivered a sacrifice fly, an error brought in another run, and Destiny Warner added an RBI groundout to push the lead even further.

In the circle, Brooke Chaney turned in a strong performance to earn the win, allowing just two hits over four scoreless innings while keeping Tarkington off balance. Jayci Wilson was equally effective in relief, tossing two shutout innings without allowing a hit and striking out two to seal the victory.

Offensively, Shepherd racked up 10 hits as a team. Simpson and Warner each drove in two runs, while Wiley and Rylei Brewer added multiple hits to round out the balanced attack.
