COLDSPRING — The Lady Trojans turned another page in their season Thursday night, taking the floor under a newly implemented playbook and a revised coaching staff as they hosted the Navasota Lady Rattlers.
Navasota entered the contest as a seasoned 4A program from District 22 Region III, carrying an impressive 11-8 record and a reputation for relentless full-court pressure and high-energy play.
Despite the sudden transition, the Lady Trojans showed resilience early. Coldspring kept the contest competitive throughout the first half, matching Navasota’s intensity and staying within striking distance as both teams battled for control of the tempo. The game remained well within reach at halftime, reflecting the determination of a Trojans squad still finding its rhythm under new leadership.
In the second half, Navasota’s experience and depth began to show. The Lady Rattlers increased the pace, applying sustained pressure that eventually created separation on the scoreboard. Even so, Coldspring continued to compete until the final buzzer, showing growth and effort in the face of a challenging matchup.
Ciara Phillips led the Lady Trojans with 8 points on the night, while Camiyah Hines and A’Layla Goffney each contributed 6 points. Quarter-by-quarter scoring saw Coldspring post 6, 8, 10, and 15 points for a total of 39, while Navasota recorded 13, 8, 19, and 12 to finish with 52.
On Tuesday, the Trojans fell to Grapeland 48-31.
The Lady Pirates were downed by Hardin-Jefferson 75-41 on Friday.
