CROCKETT — The Coldspring Lady Trojans hit the road on Oct. 23 for a long trip to Crockett, determined to turn things around after a tough stretch of district play.

Having started the season undefeated before recent setbacks against Anderson and New Waverly, the Lady Trojans were eager to prove that their season was far from over, and they did exactly that.

Coldspring found their rhythm again, sweeping the Lady Bulldogs in straight sets, 25–9, 25–22, and 25–9, in a dominant bounce-back performance.

The first set showcased the fire and focus that have defined this Lady Trojan team all season, with Coldspring taking control early and never looking back. In the second set, Coach Dwain Anderson worked in several younger players, giving them valuable varsity court time while still maintaining the team’s edge. By the third set, the Lady Trojans had fully found their groove, closing the night in commanding fashion.

Senior Outside Hitter Ashlynn Holley reflected on the journey, saying, “Last Friday we had an injured setter and we were all just not feeling well. I was also injured, so it was a tough game against Anderson. Against New Waverly, I had to step in and try setting for the first time, which completely changed our game plan. But we’ve worked hard to adjust.”

Coach Anderson added, “The girls definitely needed this win at this point in the season. We didn’t play our best last week, but this win should get us rolling again. We’ve got a big game on Friday against Onalaska, and it’ll be an important one for playoff seeding.”

Ashlynn Holley had 20 kill shots, while Tess Phillips added 18 kills and 5 aces. Cali Crowder posted 28 assists.

Phillips also led with 17 digs, while Kinsey Reynolds added 16.

The Lady Trojans continued their romp on Friday, downing Onalaska 3-0 (25-9, 25-20, 25-21).

Ashlynn Holley slammed home 17 kill shots, while Tess Phillips added 14 kills and 4 aces. Camry Barton served up 5 aces, while Cali Crowder posted 28 assists.

Phillips also led with 6 digs.

Shepherd

The Shepherd Lady Pirates continue to fight their way through one of the toughest 4A districts in Texas high school volleyball. While the scoreboard hasn’t always shown the progress being made, the future is shining bright for this young and determined team.

Friday night, the Lady Pirates hosted the senior-heavy Liberty Lady Panthers and battled through three competitive sets (25-13, 25-14, 25-18). The third set was a testament to Shepherd’s growing confidence — the Lady Pirates rallied midway through and made a strong push before Liberty was able to close out the match.

What makes this season special is the foundation being built. With several freshmen and sophomores already stepping into varsity roles, the Lady Pirates are gaining priceless experience that no practice can teach. Game-time moments, pressure situations, and real competition are shaping a future full of potential.

Abbey Anderson led the offense with 5 kills, while Kiona King served up 3 aces and Jazilyn Richardson had 16 assists.

Anderson led the defense with 7 digs,

On Oct. 23, Shepherd lost to Hargrave 3-1 (12-25, 16-25, 25-20, 17-25).

Callie Dean led with 7 kills, and Jazilyn Richardson had 12 digs and 18 assists. Anderson had 13 digs, while both Brooklyn White and Swayzie Nelson each had 10.
