The Coldspring Lady Trojans are officially playoff bound, and they’re heading into the postseason with authority. With just one regular season match remaining, the Lady Trojans have locked in the No. 1 seed for the Large School Division in District 23-4A after a commanding sweep over the Trinity Lady Tigers on Tuesday night.
The matchup against Trinity was all Coldspring from the first serve. The Lady Trojans dominated the court with set scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-18, securing a 3-0 victory and improving their district standing to an impressive 2-0 over the Lady Tigers this year.
Senior Night added an emotional edge to the evening as the Lady Trojans celebrated years of teamwork and friendship.
Senior Captain Ashlynn Holley reflected, “You know, it was a little emotional. Most of our team have been playing together since seventh grade. We’ve played almost 240 games together overall, including club and high school. So today was really a big day for us.”
Fellow Senior Captain Tess Phillips added, “It was excitement, for sure. Being senior night, we really wanted to show out, swing hard, move our feet, get our serves in, and prepare for Anderson. It was our night to shine bright.”
Head Coach Dwain Anderson shared his excitement about how the team is shaping up heading into the postseason: “As far as preparation, we don’t change much, our practices stay the same. But Anderson’s about the best warm-up game you can ask for going into the playoffs.”
On Friday, Coldspring wrapped up an impressive regular season with a 7-3 district record, earning the #1 seed for the large school division alongside Onalaska. It’s been a season filled with grit, growth, and determination, one that has the Lady Trojans entering the playoffs with confidence and momentum.
The final regular season matchup against the Anderson Lady Owls was a hard-fought contest, with set scores of 17-25, 20-25, and 8-25. Despite the loss, the game served as valuable preparation for postseason play.
Anderson reflected on the matchup, saying, “The game was clearly a very good warm-up for the first round of the playoffs against Boling.”
Now, all focus turns to the bi-district round, where the Lady Trojans will face Boling on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Katy Paetow High School.
The Lady Pirates ended the 2025 season with a 3-1 (16-25, 20-25, 25-23, 20-25) loss to Hamshire-Fannett and a 6-24 overall (0-12 district) record.
