Hello East Texas,
My name is Colonel (Retired) Scott MacLeod, and I’m running for Congress because I believe we need serious leadership rooted in service, not political connections or personal ambition.
I was born in Channelview, Texas, to a single mom, grew up in Sugarland, and graduated from Sam Houston State University. East Texas made me who I am. I’m not a Harvard Law graduate. I’m not a lobbyist. I’m not a career politician or a serial campaigner. I’m a soldier, a dad, a small businessman, and an educator.
I spent 31 years in uniform. I was President Trump’s Border Commander, with troops along the border from El Paso to Brownsville. I took a thousand soldiers to Baghdad and brought all of them back alive. I was the Joint-Task Force Commander during Hurricane Harvey. I was honored to take 6,000 Soldiers and Marines to Houston and save thousands of lives in the town I grew up in.
There are three things I’d like to focus on. First, Texas families deserve a strong economy. That means lower prices on food and energy, but it also means finally tackling this reckless spending. We’ve got federal programs that have become self-licking ice cream cones, we’re sending billions to other countries, all the while we’re being told Social Security is going to run out. Texas families can’t spend more than they bring in, and neither should Washington.
National security starts at the border, and I don’t trust Washington Republicans not to revert once President Trump leaves office. We need leaders who have fought the cartels and understand the damage they cause. We must properly vet everyone who entered the country legally or illegally during the Biden years. Too many horrific crimes have been committed by individuals who should never have been here. Finally, we must rebuild our military. “Peace through strength” doesn’t mean shipping our weapons overseas and weakening our military readiness.
Texas Farmers and Ranchers
Third, we must protect our farmers and ranchers. They are under relentless pressure from overregulation, water rights disputes, eminent domain abuse, and the threat of crop and livestock diseases coming across the border. The people who feed this nation deserve a federal government that has their back, not one that works against them.
