COLDSPRING – A nationwide protest was held on Saturday, June 14, on President Donald Trump’s birthday, in response to Trump and his administration. The citizens of Coldspring rallied in front of the San Jacinto County courthouse for a peaceful protest to share their frustrations with America’s current executive.
Sponsored by the Democratic Party, ‘No Kings’ is a call to action for mass mobilization that opposes authoritarianism, corruption and unlawful politics. In addition, a core principle of the No Kings protest is to remain non-confrontational and maintain the integrity of the movement.
Dennis Ready, Democratic Chair of San Jacinto County and coordinator of the event, spoke about the importance of the No Kings protest. “I really believe in the Constitution…no matter who is president,” said Ready.
Ready said that all presidents, regardless of party affiliation, should follow the rules of the land.
Aside from Coldspring, the surrounding cities in Texas held their own respective ‘No Kings’ protests: Livingston; Huntsville; Conroe; Tyler and several other towns in East Texas filled the streets to express their feelings toward Trump.
