SHEPHERD — A Conroe man is being held in San Jacinto County Jail after leading law enforcement officials from three counties on a chase where he allegedly fired shots at his pursuers.
According to reports from the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit, which happened on Friday, ended in Shepherd after beginning Montgomery County with shots reportedly fired at law enforcement.
SJC Chief Deputy Stan Jolly said that the suspect, 29-year-old Raul Alcantaria, was wanted on a warrant for online solicitation of a minor.
Jolly said the chase left Montgomery and then went through Liberty County, and then into a wooded area about 200 yards from the intersection of Redbud Road and U.S. 59 in San Jacinto County.
Law enforcement officials then established a perimeter in the area, and later apprehended Alcanteria.
Currently being held in San Jacinto County Jail on the solicitation charge, and Jolly said more charges are pending.
Sheriff Sam Houston commended the multiple agencies involved in the pursuit.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all involved, a dangerous individual was safely apprehended and taken off the streets,” he said.
He also commends the entire San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office — including Communications, Patrol, and the Criminal Investigations Division — for their professionalism, swift response, and dedication throughout the incident.
