SHEPHERD — A Shepherd man was arrested after a weeks-long investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving children.
Sheriff’s Office reports state that at the beginning of August, deputies with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence in Shepherd after receiving reports of alleged sexual misconduct. Deputies ensured the immediate safety of potential victims and gathered critical information at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division took over the investigation and developed probable cause to charge the suspect with indecency with a child and retaliation after learning the suspect allegedly made threats to harm family members who had reported his actions.
The suspect, Kevin Moore, was arrested by detectives and the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office Operation Lone Star Task Force, which specializes in locating fugitives and high-risk offenders. The OLS found the suspect was at a residence in Walker County, and in collaboration with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, deputies executed the arrest warrant and safely took the suspect into custody without incident.
The individual was later transferred to the San Jacinto County Jail.
A subsequent search warrant executed on the suspect’s property resulted in the recovery of additional evidence. Detectives anticipate additional charges pending further investigation.
Sheriff Houston said the top priority of the SO is the safety of children and families in the community.
This case remains under investigation.
