Shepherd Board of Aldermen

Jan. 12

The monthly meeting of the City of Shepherd Board of Aldermen was cut short as a member became ill and left the council without a quorum.

In the meantime, the members:

  • Approved the annual audit, which was returned with an unmodified opinion and no significant findings. City Secretary Debra Hagler said that a high point of the presentation was that while most cities have 15 percent of their total budget in reserves, Shepherd has 100 percent, meaning the city can operate a whole year without revenue.
  • Discussed increased patrols and investigation into illegal dumping in a local neighborhood. No action was taken, but Hagler said the police department has been to the properties in question, found a suspect and will issue a citation.
