A snapshot of the items dealt with at the Oct. 12 meeting of the Shepherd City Council:
•The council decided against extending a sewer line on both Finger Street and Beverly Street, as the land does not slope properly to extend the line. The council did opt to install force mains, or pressurized sewer pipelines, and required the landowners at the specific properties to install grinder stations at each of their homes since gravity will not carry the waste away.
•The council approved an interlocal agreement with San Jacinto County for animal control, and will help fund the Animal Control Center with an annual $10,000 stipend, which will be paid monthly.
•The council gave its annual approval for a franchise agreement for 50 years with Sam Houston Electric Co. to be the electrical provider for part of the city.
