SHEPHERD — This year, the Shepherd Fourth of July Celebration was held on the Saturday following Independence Day — and it turned out to be a huge success, bringing together neighbors, families, and visitors for a day of fun, community spirit, and spectacular fireworks.

DJ Joe LeBlanc kicked things off bright and early, spinning a lively mix of music that greeted the early risers enjoying their morning coffee at the park. As the day rolled on, people from all over the area began to gather, and by 3:00 p.m., the park was buzzing with excitement and filling up fast.

Larry Lowe from Post 629 presented the colors, setting a patriotic tone for the festivities. Greg Cones followed with a heartfelt rendition of “God Bless America,” which moved many in the crowd to tears.

Yvonne Cones, President of the Shepherd Chamber of Commerce, warmly welcomed everyone to Shepherd and thanked the community for coming out to celebrate. She then introduced State Representative Janice Holt, who shared her gratitude for being part of the celebration and praised the spirit of the Shepherd community.

After the introductions, the games began! DJ LeBlanc, doubling as Master of Ceremonies, kept the energy high by announcing contests and activities that kept kids and adults entertained all afternoon.

As dusk approached, excitement built for what Shepherd is best known for — an unforgettable fireworks show. When the first rockets lit up the night sky, the crowd knew they were in for something special. For nearly 45 minutes, bursts of red, white, and blue fireworks dazzled overhead, lighting up the park and drawing cheers and applause from the crowd below.

After the grand finale, DJ Joe LeBlanc thanked everyone for coming and reminded the community that next year’s celebration will be even bigger — marking Shepherd’s 150th anniversary! Yvonne Cones also noted that this year’s display was at least the 17th year the town has proudly hosted its beloved fireworks show for the people of Shepherd, Texas.

With music, games, laughter, and a fireworks display that once again proved why Shepherd’s celebration is a local favorite, this year’s 4th of July event was truly a night to remember.
