COLDSPRING — A Coldspring-Oakhurst High School student received a minor injury in an incident on Wednesday at the school.
According to reports from district officials, an incident began in a hallway before class between two students. At the start of the class period, both students entered the classroom where they were scheduled to attend. Inside the classroom, one student chased the other with a pair of scissors. During the altercation, one student sustained a lower leg injury after being stabbed with the scissors.
Officials responded immediately, providing immediate medical attention and contacting district police and local law enforcement.
The families of both students also were notified.
According to a release from the school, the matter is being addressed in accordance with school district policies and procedures, which include appropriate disciplinary action and support services for those involved.
The incident is considered isolated, with no ongoing danger to students or staff, and officials emphasize the serious nature of what occurred and assures the community that appropriate measures have been taken.
“The safety and well-being of our students and staff remains our top priority. We are committed to transparency with our community and will continue to provide updates as appropriate while respecting student privacy and the ongoing investigation. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we continue to address this matter,” the release states.
