Traffic stop leads to felony arrest of suspected narcotics offender

SHEPHERD — On the morning of May 16, the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a reckless driver, leading to the arrest of a male suspect found in possession of illegal narcotics and marijuana.

At approximately 10:15 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office dispatch center received a call reporting a vehicle driving recklessly northbound on U.S. Highway 59, heading toward Shepherd from the Cleveland area.

Patrol deputies positioned themselves along the route. The suspect vehicle was located in the Shepherd area, where deputies conducted a traffic stop based on observed probable cause.

During the course of the investigation, deputies discovered illegal narcotics and marijuana in the suspect’s possession. The male subject was taken into custody without incident and booked into the San Jacinto County Jail. His vehicle was seized due to being in possession of a felony amount of narcotics.

While the investigation is ongoing, officials noted that the individual has multiple tattoos commonly associated with known Houston-area gangs. However, no official gang affiliation has been confirmed at this time. The name of the arrestee is being withheld pending further investigation.
