COLDSPRING — The Coldspring Trojans ended the week on a high note Friday night with a hard-fought 22-20 victory over the Buna Cougars.
Coming in as the underdogs, the Trojans refused to let the odds or the scoreboard define them.
Buna struck first on their opening drive, putting up six quick points before missing the two-point conversion. But the Troans answered right back, as David Rowe led a composed and determined offense down the field to tie it up, 6-6. From that point on, it was a back-and-forth battle with both teams trading scores and defensive stands.
The defining moment came late in the fourth quarter, when the Trojans powered through for a touchdown and nailed the two-point conversion, locking in a 22–20 lead that the defense refused to give up.
Jamarious “T.T.” Parker had a standout night, rushing for 154 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns, while Ja’Koby Parks added another 25 yards and a score. The Trojans’ offense dominated on the ground, piling up 312 rushing yards on 48 attempts, with 44 passing yards to balance the attack.
Defensively, the Trojans showed grit and discipline, racking up 56 assisted tackles and 11 solo tackles. James Christian led with eight assists and one sack, while Cain Daigle came up big with an interception returned for 10 yards. Quavi Marsh added another sack to help seal the defensive effort.
While the Trojans will narrowly miss a playoff berth this year, Head Coach Cody Day and his staff have built a strong foundation, one that focuses on discipline, teamwork, and player development.
The Shepherd Pirates continue to prove they belong among the district’s best.
On Friday night, the Pirates made school history, earning their first-ever victory over the Jasper Bulldogs with a dominant 32-7 win on the road.
Traveling to Jasper, the Pirates entered as underdogs, but you wouldn’t have known it from the way they played. From the opening kickoff, Shepherd controlled every phase of the game: offense, defense, and special teams.
Head Coach Miles Robison summed it up perfectly:
“Overall, it was an outstanding performance by the entire team executing on all phases, offense, defense, and special teams,” he said. “This is Shepherd’s first win ever against Jasper.”
The Pirates’ offense exploded for 368 total yards, with an impressive 348 yards on the ground. Ben Coyle led the charge with 10 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown, while Landen Dellinger followed closely with 12 carries for 118 yards and one TD. Jacorey Davis added 57 yards and another score, and Kellyn Husband chipped in 17 yards and a touchdown of his own.
Defensively, the Pirates were just as dominant, allowing only 143 total yards for the entire game. Brayden White and Michael Weekes each recorded two sacks, putting relentless pressure on Jasper’s quarterback. Eduardo Jaime and Kyler Syracuse led the team in tackles, while Diego Orozco snagged an interception to cap off the defensive showcase.
