On a rare Wednesday night matchup, the Trojans fell to the Tomball Kings 9-0.
Kaden Hubbard got the start, working three innings, while Brayden Sherman provided relief and battled through four innings against a Kings offense that consistently put runners on base.
Offensively, Jordan Ash led the way for Coldspring, going 2-for-3 at the plate and accounting for half of the team’s hits. The Trojans managed to put runners on base but were unable to break through against Tomball pitcher Steven Mims, who threw a complete-game shutout.
However, the bats came alive in a big way Friday night as the Coldspring Trojans rolled past Crockett 21-2.
Leading the charge was McCall Hilton, who drove in five runs on four hits, including a triple, double, and single across three innings. Jordan Ash delivered a key two-run double, while Ethan Hamilton and Hilton each added RBI hits to quickly build momentum. The Trojans continued to pour it on in the second inning, adding six more runs. James Clark electrified the crowd with an inside-the-park home run, further extending the lead.
On the mound, Jordan Ash delivered a strong performance, striking out nine over four innings while allowing just two runs.
The bats were alive and well Friday night in Shepherd as the Pirates came up just short in a 13-12 loss to Liberty.
Despite being outhit 5-2, Shepherd showed tremendous grit, nearly erasing a six-run deficit in the later innings.
On the mound, Hagen Adams took the loss after working three innings, allowing 10 runs (only one earned) on three hits while striking out two. Offensively, Jacorey Davis led the charge for the Pirates, driving in three runs from the heart of the lineup. Kyler Syracuse accounted for both of Shepherd’s hits, going 2-for-4 at the plate.
On March 17, Shepherd lost 8-4, with Hagen Adams’ triple giving the Pirates two of their three runs. Dallas Phifer and Tyler Scifres shared mound duty, allowing 10 hits while only striking out 4.
Still, Head Coach Don Malone said he was extremely proud of how hard the played this week and the grit they showed.
