Two killed in separate crashes

SAN JACINTO COUNTY — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a three-vehicle fatality crash on U.S. Highway 59, just north of Farm-to-Market Road 223, that occurred Sunday, March 29.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 10:29 p.m., a 2024 Chevrolet Camaro and a 2026 Hyundai Venue were traveling north. It is reported that the driver of a 2024 Nissan Sentra was traveling south in the northbound lane and struck the Chevrolet head-on. After impact, the Hyundai struck the rear of the Chevrolet.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 36-year-old Juana Andrade-Zepeda of New Cane,y was transported to HCA Conroe for treatment of possible life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, 61-year-old Maria Tello of New Caney, and one passenger, 56-year-old Saul Torres-Turruubiantes of New Caney, were transported to St. Luke’s Memorial Houston for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, 24-year-old David Nava of Conroe, was transported to St. Luke’s Memorial Houston, where he was pronounced deceased by medical professionals.

This is an ongoing investigation.

•Troopers investigated a one-vehicle fatality crash on Farm-to-Market Road 980, west of Onalaska, that occurred on March 24.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 6:20 a.m., a 1997 Ford F-150 was traveling north. It is reported that the driver failed to drive in a single lane, left the roadway to the right, and overturned. 

The driver of the Ford, 20-year-old Dylan Tassin of Livingston, was pronounced dead on scene by a Justice of the Peace.
