Chamber honors county’s best
COLDSPRING — The Coldspring Chamber of Commerce gave the accolades to the attending business and organizations at its annual The Best of San Jacinto County Awards Banquet on Saturday, not only providing certificates to winner and raising money for Coldspring students.
Chamber President Jon Burns thanked all of the supporters, volunteers and donors who graciously made the event a success by investing in the future generations of San Jacinto County.
Taylor Viator, the 2023 recipient of a Chamber scholarship and a student at Sam Houston State University, gave the assembled members an update on her project, and in her chosen profession of education, plans to give support to students as so many teachers gave to her.
Also speaking at the event was Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD Superintendent Dr. Bryan Taulton, who thanked the Chamber, and the district’s business and commercial partners, for helping them become successful.
“These partnerships open doors for our students,” he said.
A highlight of the evening was the award for Citizen of the Year, which went to Coldspring Mayor John Benestante, and to the Volunteer of the Year, which went to Teddy Elliott of The Community & Children's Impact Center.
