San Jacinto County Women's League was visited by Ranger Eric Rosenthal, who gave an excellent talk on his work and also what Lake Livingston Lake Park offers to people.
I had never heard of mothing, or as the program reads, “Nighttime Moth Adventure.” This starts at 9 p.m. A large white sheet is hung up and flashlights play across it. Moths gather and land on the sheet to be described to the onlookers. I am not sure if the idea is to take some home, but you can do this in your back yard to show your children.
Ranger Eric talks on Sundays at 1 p.m. throughout October about snakes, join him in the Nature Center. Baby American Alligator is the subject at 3 p.m., also in the Nature Center.
Archery was another topic. At the Activity Center, Ranger Eric teaches the basics of Olympian style archery and range safety. The next session will be on Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. October 30 from 8-10 p.m. features The Haunted Fishing Pier. Lots of activities here from pumpkin carving to a costume contest and live snakes and alligators. There are many other classes, adventures and talks which you can find on the website and Facebook page or call (936) 365-2201.

•Kolton Purvis and Faith Hartman were married on Saturday last week at Cornerstone Church in Cleveland. Kolton is on the board of Shepherd EDC. and Faith managed the Heaven's Army Store in Shepherd, until it closed, and also was a board member on Shepherd Chamber of Commerce.
My husband and I were invited to the wedding, which was a very special event, starting with the bride singing to her future husband as she entered the sanctuary and walked all the way down the aisle. She had a beautiful voice and never faltered. Later a lovely meal was served in Fellowship Hall and everyone got to speak to the couple afterward. Congratulations to them both and many blessings.
