Apple Springs ends season with a pair of losses

The Lady Eagles’ trip to the postseason ended last week with a pair of losses to Slocum.

On Friday, Apple Springs was edged out 2-0, and on Saturday, Slocum blanked the team again, 15-0.

While the team was held hitless, Faith Smith delivered 5 strikeouts and held the Lady Mustangs hitless as well.

No stats were available for the Saturday game.

Groveton

The Lady Indians’ postseason ended after going 1-2 in a series against Shelbyville.

Groveton lost the first game 5-2 but stormed back to win 6-1 on Saturday. In the rubber match, Shelbyville took a 6-1 win.

Trinity

The Lady Tigers first postseason trip in years ended with a pair of losses to Van Vleck; the team lost 14-4 on Thursday and 7-0 on Friday.

The Eagles closed out the season with a 15-0 drubbing of Zavalla on April 24.

Centerville

The Bulldogs outscored Kennard 30-1 last week to continue their wen streak.

On April 22, Centerville downed Kennard 20-1 with 9 hits and 18 walks. Brice Selman and Kolt Larsen had the hot bats, both hitting twice.

Larsen led on the mound as well, serving up 9 strikeouts while allowing only 1 hit and 2 walks.

Then on Friday, the Bulldogs blanked Kennard 10-0 behind the 2 homers and 5 RBIs from Jake Slaten.

Slaten altogether had three hits, while Kolt Larsen had 2 hits and a dinger himself.

Hardy Brown and Wyatt Clede took turns on the mound, combining for 10 strikeouts while allowing only 2 hits.

Groveton

The Indians downed the Oakwood Panthers 6-1 in the final home game of the season.

Jack Sullivan led the offense with 2 hits, while Dax Parker, Grayson Savage, Ty Torregrossa, Cash Moore and Cade White all chipped in 1. The team also posted 6 stolen bases.

On the mound, Parker and Moore swapped out, combining for 8 strikeouts while giving up only 2 hits and 2 walks.

The Indians begin a three-game series against Shelbyville on Friday in Jasper.

Trinity

The Tigers closed the season with an 8-0 loss to New Waverly.

Trinity was held hitless, by Hunter Ogden did manage a stolen base after a walk.

Ogden, Austin Wallace and Canyen Hollis all toed the mound, but only managed 2 strikeouts while giving up 7 hits and 4 walks.
