Barbara Sue Baird, 85, of Woodville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 3, 2025.

Born in Baytown, Texas, to Stokes and Doris Neal, Barbara lived in Colmesneil for many years. A longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Colmesneil, Barbara enjoyed helping people. She worked at Bealls for many years, where she never met a stranger and always enjoyed the conversations with her customers. She and her husband, Donald, owned and operated K & J Market in Colmesneil for many years, making long-time friends with their customers. 

Barbara never sat still for long.  She was always on the move, working in her yard, taking care of the house, or chasing grandkids who were her life. She loved her Lord and Savior with her whole heart, which resonated with the love of her family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Stokes Neal and Doris & Narie Haymon; sister, Nina Marlin; daughter & grandson, Lisa & Caleb Blevins; son, Kevin Baird; and grandson, Alex Johnson.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Don Baird of Woodville, TX

daughters, Benita Citrano & husband, Anthony, of Barnum, TX; Pam Vinson of Barnum, TX; Jeannie Johnson & husband, Dennis, of Chester, TX; Chyrl Pounds & husband, Todd, of Woodville, TX; daughter, Cherie Coker, of Newton, TX; son, Keith Baird & wife, Jo, of Lufkin, TX; sisters, Lorena Martin of Texas City, TX; June Boughton & husband Doug, of Oakdale, LA; 20 Grandchildren; 53 Great Grandchildren; 6 Great-great grandchildren

The funeral service was held Tuesday, January 7, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Colmesneil, Texas, with burial following at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester, Texas. Visitation was held Monday, January 6, 2024, from 6 pm until 8 pm at Riley Funeral Home.

Brandon Johnson, Zach Pounds, Jason Citrano, Douglas Brinkley, Chad Coker and David Turpin will be pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all other grandchildren along with Art Spurlock, Vance Cowart, Joe Savoy and Jim Fitzgerald.
