Billy “Bucky” Dean, 89, of Tyler passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 beginning at 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. service time at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery all in Woodville. Officiating will be Brother Jason Talor. Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Irvin, Jake Dean, Connor Irvin, Benjamin Solomon, Jackson Solomon and Kasey Hardy.
Bucky was born September 28, 1934 to Floyd T. “Boots” and Lois Edna Benthall Dean in Woodville, Texas. He was a math teacher for 30 years, many of those years in Barbers Hill school district in Mont Belvieu, Texas. His greatest joy was his wife and family, fishing and golf and earlier in his life he was a math teacher, tennis player and coach in Gladewater, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd T. “Boot” and Lois Dean; wife of 57 years, Carolyn Dean; brother, Ernest W. Dean, and daughter-in-law, Joyce Dean
He is survived by his sons, Billy Dean of Brenham, and Stacy Dean of Henderson; daughter, Kimberly Irvin and husband, Steve of Tyler; grandchildren, Jennifer Dean Pedrotta and husband, Fabiano of Lausanne, Switzerland, Amy Solomon and husband, Jonathan of Frisco, Kasey Hardy, Erin Irvin-Boles and husband, Travis of Madison, Wisconsin, Jacob Dean and wife, Theresa of Cedar City, Utah, Ryan Irvin and wife, Katie of Groves, Lauren Roberson and husband, Keith of Emory, and Dwayne Musick of Lufkin; great grandchildren, Dillon Pedrotta, Nolan Pedrotta, Connor Irvin, Benjamin Solomon, Jackson Solomon, Cooper Irvin, Colson Irvin, Corbin Irvin, Claire Solomon, Kingsley Boles, and Theodore Roberson; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Dean of Kountze and Janie Boykin and husband, Bob of Woodville.
