Bulldogs win, Lady Bulldogs fall at season start

CENTERVILLE — On Friday, the Bulldogs opened the high school basketball season with Homecoming night. Freshman Jordyn Jones was crowned Homecoming Queen.

The Centerville JV boys teams downed Big Sandy 38-23.

Top scorers were Eli Emmons with 14 points, Chris Fry with 13 points, Brandon McWhorter with 6 points, Kie Barton with 3 points and Trevor Hennigan with 2 points.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to Central 37-18.

Top scorers were Taylor Barton with 12 points, Jordyn Jones with 3 points, Peyton Noack with 2 points, and Jamie Whittlesey with 1 point.

In the boys game, Centerville downed Big Sandy 68-46.

Top scorers were Jake Slaten with 31 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks; Kolt Larsen with 13 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals; Hardy Brown with 13 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists; Wyatt Clede with 7 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals; and Braden White with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist.

Trinity

The Lady Tigers are at 3-0 in the early days of the basketball season with wins over Slocum, C.H. Yoe and Leggett.

Against Slocum on Friday, the score was 31-28. Top scorers were Teagan Droddy with 9 points and Alexa Pruitt with 8. Pruitt also had 11 rebounds.

Against C.H. Yoe on Nov. 5, the score was 50-42. Top scorers were Olivia Mills and Bree Davidson, who each put up 13 points. Paetyn Jolly had 8 rebounds.

Against Leggett on Nov. 1, the score was 41-12. Top scorers were Teagan Droddy with 12, followed by Emma Sustaita with 8. Mariah Tyson and Alexa Pruitt each contributed 8 rebounds.
