Centerville goes 2-1 in week’s diamond tilts

Last week, the Bulldogs downed Neches twice in great fashion — 10-0 and 17-1 — but lost a nailbiter 5-4 to Brookeland on Saturday.

Centerville moved to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in district with a 10-0 win over Neches on April 1.

Leading the offense was Wyatt Clede with 3 hits, while Kolt Larsen and Hardy Brown both hit twice. Larsen had 3 RBIs, and Clede had 2.

Brown handled the pitching, tossing 10 strikeouts while giving up only 1 hit.

In the Saturday game, Clede also posted 3 hits, while Landon Teeters and Eli Emmons added 2 apiece.

Emmons and Brice Selman took turns on the mound, combining for 3 strikeouts but giving up 10 hits.

The loss moves Centerville to 9-2 overall.

Groveton

The Indians added 2 wins to its 18-4 record last week with a 5-0 win over Corrigan-Camden on April 1 and a 11-7 win over Douglass on Friday.

On April 1, Dax Parker, Ty Torregrossa and Gunner Wilson each had 2 hits. Torregrossa got the win, delivering 8 strikeouts while giving up only 5 hits.

On Friday, Torregrossa hit for 3 at the plate, and Parker, Wilson, Jack Sullivan and Cash Moore each had 2. Parker had 3 RBIs off of his homer and triple, and Wilson had a double and 3 RBIs.

Parker, Sullivan and Moore shared mound duty, combining for 9 strikeouts and giving up only 5 hits.

Apple Springs

The Eagles lost to Chester 7-4 on April 1.

Drake Pierce led the offense with 2 hits and 2 RBIs.

Zeth Dugat and Cooper Campbell took turns on the mound, only striking out 2 while giving up 7 hits.

Trinity

The Tigers lost a pair of games to Anderson-Shiro, falling 15-5 on April 1 and 17-1 on Friday.

On April 1, Hunter Ogden, Canyen Hollis and Christian Vaughn all had 2 hits, and Austin Beasley’s lone hit was a 2-run triple.

Ogden, Austin Wallace and William Lee took turns on the mound, combining for 6 strikeouts but giving up 10 hits.

On Friday, Chance Barron had the lone hit for the Tigers. Cove Copley, Beasley and Hollis had mound duty, tossing 6 strikeouts but giving up 10 hits.

The Lady Eagles lost a pair of games to Neches, losing 7-4 on April 1 and 16-3 on Friday.

In the first game, Faith Smith led the offense, going 3-for-4 and scoring twice. Abrie McWhorter went 2-for-3 with a double. Smith and McWhorter had mound duty as well, combining for 5 strikeouts but allowing 11 hits.

On Friday, Smith and McWhorter had the only hits in the game, and again on the mound, the two combined for 3 strikeouts and gave up 14.

Groveton

The Lady Indians posted a pair of 10-0 shutouts last week, downing Corrigan-Camden on April 1 and Jasper on Friday.

Trinity

The Lady Tigers dropped two games to Anderson-Shiro last week, 15-6 on April 1 and 12-2 on Friday.
