LOVELADY — The Coldspring Lady Trojans’ memorable volleyball season came to a close on Veterans Day, after facing off against Franklin in the regional round of the UIL volleyball playoffs.
The match was a tough battle, showcasing both the highs and lows of the team’s journey this season.
The Lady Trojans stumbled in the first set, struggling to find their rhythm as Franklin surged ahead, taking it 25-3. However, the second and third sets revealed the true fighting spirit of the Lady Trojans as Coldspring rallied impressively, pushing the set scores to a competitive 25-20 in both instances, but ultimately could not outlast the powerhouse Franklin team, who boasted 11 seniors and the title of District 19-3A champions.
Despite the defeat, Coldspring’s achievements this season have been nothing short of extraordinary. The team, led by only three seniors, set a new standard by advancing to the Regional Round of the UIL Playoffs — a first in the program’s history.
Head Coach Dwain Anderson praised his squad’s resilience, saying, “It was a great season with a great group of girls. This team has been the building block for what’s to come for Coldspring girls athletics. It’s more than just volleyball; they have started what I expect to be the new expectations for our girls’ program.”
The Lady Trojans wrapped up their season with an impressive 27-12 record, marking a standout year for the team and setting high hopes for the future of Coldspring girls’ athletics. Fans can expect to see more remarkable achievements from this program in the seasons to come, as these young athletes continue to build on their hard-earned legacy.
