COLDSPRING — The Trojans moved to 2-1 on the season after a loss to former district rival Woodville on Friday.

Since Woodville is no longer in the same district due to the new realignment of the UIL, the loss does not count against the playoffs.

Coldspring won the opening toss and elected to defer until the second half to control the ball. This gave the Woodville Eagles the ball and within minutes they marched downfield for the first score. The Eagles marched from midfield for another score and the momentum was in the Eagles hands.

Coldspring did not have an answer for the Eagles passing or rushing attacks during the evening, but did manage 14 points toward the end of the fourth quarter.

Coldspring posted 352 total yards for the night which contained two fumbles and 1 interception. Total rushing yardage was 276 yards, of which Tyga Parker had 115 along with Caydyn Barton’s 82. David Rowe had 18 yards along with T.J. Johnson’s 12 yards. David Rowe passed for 76 yards and 1 TD. Antoine Phillips had a 25-yard receiving TD for the night. Cookie McGowen Senior running back posted 38 yards rushing for the night.

Coldspring will travel to face Kelly Catholic on Friday at 7 p.m.

Shepherd

The Pirates downed Buffalo 52-22 and moves to 1-2 on the young season.

On Shepherd’s first possession, the Pirates marched 76 yards from the 24-yard line and Jevaris Marsh, Gage Murphy and Preston Stevens combined for the first score of the night.

Taking over at their own 6, Shepherd posted two plays before Preston Stephens trotted for an 86-yard run and the second score of the night.

The Pirates managed to score at will and punish the Buffalo defense all night long; on the third possession the Pirates marched to the Buffalo 20-yard line and Gage Murphy pushed the ball in for another score.

In all, the Pirates had 404 total yards offense, with 394 rushing and 10 passing yards.

Preston Stevens led the way, with 239 yards rushing and 5 TDs. Javaris Marsh and Gage Murphy each contributed a TD.

The Shepherd Pirates return home to host the Anderson-Shiro Owls on Friday at 7 p.m.
