Dam B Community Watch celebrates holidays with giving

Posted

DAM B – Members of the Dam B Community Watch gathered at the Dam B Sheriff Office Substation on the evening of Nov. 29 to light the community Christmas Tree.  The Community Watch has donated a tree to celebrate Christmas for the last several years.

The Substation is located on Hwy 92S, immediately south of the Dam B VFD and the Fairview Baptist Church.  The tree and substation are lit every evening until the end of the year.

On Monday Dec. 2, Dam B Community Watch President Sallie Odom presented a check for $500 to the Tyler County Child Welfare Board for their Angel Tree Foundation.  The Angel Tree Foundation provides Christmas gifts for children in need.

The Community Watch collects money throughout the year for the Angel Tree Foundation.  In addition to the Angel Tree, the Community Watch also sponsors a college scholarship, and the members donate time and money to maintain the Sheriff’s Substation on Highway 92S.

The mission of the Community Watch is to make our area a better place to live and raise a family.  We do this by being alert to crime, but also through generous gifts back to the Dam B Community throughout the year.

The Dam B Community Watch meets every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at the Fairview Baptist Church on Hwy 92 South. All are welcome to attend.
