Jay Diehl, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent for Polk County, spoke to the Livingston Lions Club Wednesday. “Our responsibility is to provide research-based information for the general public,” Diehl said. He has served as the Polk County extension agent since October and has been busy since he got here. Responsible for the cattle side of things with the local 4-H youth, he has traveled many a mile, heading to San Antonio, Fort Worth and now Houston for steer shows. Diehl holds a degree from Texas Tech University where he majored in animal science and minored in ag business. With his family operating a commercial cow operation, he grew up on farms. He later went to South Texas and managed a seed stock Brangus operation, managing approximately 300 head of recipient cattle for an embryo transfer program.
