Eugene Joseph Daly Jr., born on 1/24/1938 in Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully on 12/23/2024, in Woodville, Texas. At the age of 86. He was the beloved son of the late Eugene J. Daly Sr. and Margaret E. Daly (nee Fackler)
Eugene was a cherished brother to Ann Wedekind and the late Pam Sullivan. He was a devoted father to Kelly Murphy, her husband Mike, Jennifer Daly, her husband Pietro, Jaclyn Fuchs, her husband Chris, Christopher Daly, and the late Kevin Daly. Eugene’s legacy also lives on through his seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
A proud alumnus of Mount St. Joseph High School class of 1955, Eugene went on to serve his country with distinction as a Specialist Third class in the United States Army from 1956 until his honorable release from active duty in 1958. He often fondly recalled his time in service, particularly his experience firing tank machine guns at the age of 18.
A dedicated professional in the transportation industry for decades, Eugene earned a stellar reputation as a specialist in oversized loads. His expertise to excellence left an indelible mark on his field.
Outside of his career, Eugene found joy in an active lifestyle. He had a passion for golfing, racquetball, tennis, and skiing-pursuits that brought him happiness and camaraderie with those who shared his enthusiasm. He had a lifetime appreciation for sports cars, with his Jaguar Vanden Plas holding a special place in his heart.
Eugene will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his professional achievements, and the vibrant energy he brought to life’s adventures. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
A memorial will be held at Gardens of Faith Cemetery to be announced at a later date.
