Festival seeking Dogwood Duchesses

Posted

WOODVILLE – Spring is just around the corner, and that means the Tyler County Dogwood Festival is fast approaching.

This beloved tradition, now in its 82nd year, brings the community together to celebrate the beauty of the season. The festival’s operating directors are excited to invite senior girls from surrounding areas to take part in this special event by joining the royal court as visiting duchesses.

For many years, the Dogwood Festival has given young women the opportunity to represent their hometowns, all while making unforgettable memories. The festival committee also welcomes Tyler County residents to encourage their granddaughters, nieces, cousins, or friends from other towns to participate.

Being a Dogwood Duchess is an opportunity to be a part of this time-honored tradition. From April 3 through April 5, 2025, duchesses will enjoy a fun-filled weekend of celebrations, including formal events, social gatherings, an exciting parade, and, of course, the coronation itself.

Each duchess must be a high school senior and have a high school student escort. If an escort is needed, the festival will provide a local escort to make sure everyone has the best experience possible.

With only 24 spots available, those interested should apply as soon as possible. The deadline for registration is Friday, Feb. 21.

To apply, visit www.tylercountydogwoodfestival.org and download the duchess registration packet under the “Forms” section. For more details or to reserve a spot, contact Candace Dagle at candace_spivey@hotmail.com.
