Frank Basil Bass, of Groveton, passed away peacefully at his home on March 23, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on Aug. 5, 1946, in Harlingen, to Frank Marion Bass and Lucille (Smith) Bass.
On Sept. 5, 1963, Frank proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force in Dallas, where he served honorably for four years. After his military service, he began a long and fulfilling career in real estate with Tecon Corp, where he worked for 38 years before retiring.
Frank was an outdoorsman at heart and found immense joy in hunting, fishing, frog gigging, and rabbit hunting. He especially cherished time spent with his family, whether barbecuing or cooking one of his signature meals, he loved bringing everyone together. He adored his grandchildren and took extraordinary pride in sharing moments with them.
On June 25, 1990, Frank married the love of his life, Delinda Place, in Buffalo. Together they shared a beautiful journey, full of travel, laughter, and love. Frank also had a passion for antique cars and enjoyed attending classic car shows.
A man of deep faith and community service, Frank served as a deacon for many years at Pruitt Lake Missionary Baptist Church. He was a proud member of the Arabia Shriners and the Scottish Rite. A resolute Mason, Frank began his Masonic journey at Longview Lodge 404, where he served for over forty years before transferring to Groveton Masonic Lodge 284 AF&AM.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Marion Bass, and his mother, Lucille Bass.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of nearly 35 years, Delinda Bass of Groveton; daughter, Jennifer Townsend and husband, Jeremy, of Groveton; son, Frank Bass Jr. and wife, Melanie, of Canyon Lake; and son, Donny Akers and wife, Stacey, of Livingston. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Logan Townsend, Haygen Townsend, Blake Bass, Bailey Bass Stallings and husband, Zach, Brayden Akers, and Madelyn Akers; and his precious great-granddaughter, Elouise Stallings.
Frank also leaves behind his siblings, Frances Bass, Kay Parker, Morris Bass, and Barbara Twitty; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m on Thursday, March 27, at Groveton Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at noon. David Goodwin will officiate. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton.
Pallbearers will be Logan Townsend, Haygen Townsend, Brayden Akers, Blake Bass, Ryan Derkowski, and Brian Rivers.
Frank will be remembered for his generous heart, his love of family and country, and his unwavering commitment to faith and community. 435
