Funeral services for Garner Haegen Spring, 85, of Apple Springs, were held Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, at Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jim Durham and Mike Due officiating. Interment will follow in the New Church Cemetery in Apple Springs.

Mr. Spring was born Aug. 16, 1939, in Apple Springs, Texas to the late Evie Dell (Odom) and Wayne Milledge Spring. He died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, in Apple Springs, where he was a lifelong resident.

Garner was Vice President Cashier at Citizen State Bank in Corrigan, retiring in 2006 after more than 30 years of service. Garner attended Panola Junior College on a basketball scholarship and then went on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University. After retiring he managed the family ranch, North Cedar Creek Ranch in Apple Springs. He was a 50-year mason with the Eastern Star 284 Masonic Lodge AF&AM and was a member of Apple Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Spring, of Apple Springs; son, Richard Garner Spring, of Apple Springs; daughter, Scarlett Spring and spouse, Linda Buscemi, of Phoenix; grandchildren, Vernon Haegen Spring of Houston, Rich G. Spring of Nacogdoches, and Marshall Lane Spring of The Woodlands; brother, Gary Lynn Spring, of Marble Falls; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gilbert Spring and Gilmer Spring; and sisters, Glenora Greigg and Gerry Spring.

Pallbearers were Haegen Spring, Rich Spring, Lane Spring, Zack Jones, Garrison Spring and Grant Spring.

Honorary pallbearers were S.E. Denman, Matt Benton, Lance LaRue, Gary Spring Jr., Johnny Zolman, Cory Carlton, Bill Conner, Bill Martin, Anthony Page, Jason Due, Casey Jones and Rusty Spring.

Posthumous honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Tidwell and James H. Smith.

The family welcomed friends and loved ones Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
