NAVASOTA — The Coldspring Trojans faced off against the Gateway College Preparatory Gators, a top-ranked team, in a defensive battle that saw the Gators secure a 3-1 victory.
Coldspring’s pitching staff kept the Gators in check for most of the game as Nolan Beaver and Jordan Ash took turns on the mound.
On Friday, the Trojans closed out Navasota Tournament with a win, securing a 9-2 victory over the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs.
Leading the charge was Kaden Hubbard, a hard-throwing pitcher with a devastating curveball, who delivered a stellar performance from the mound. Hubbard consistently hit his spots throughout the evening in Navasota, keeping the Bulldogs’ offense in check and preventing any major rallies.
The Bulldogs struggled with command early in the game, which worked to the Trojans’ advantage. Capitalizing on these opportunities, Coldspring built an early lead and never looked back. Hubbard remained in complete control, pitching a complete game without the need for relief, sealing a strong finish for the Trojans in tournament play.
On March 4, the Trojans downed Hull-Daisetta 15-0.

The Pirates went 2-1 during a weekend tournament, falling to Sterling 6-1 but downing South Houston 12-6 and Lee 8-5.
Against Sterling, Marshall Reeves and Landon Dellinger each had 2 hits in the effort, and each took turns on the mound, tossing 3 strikeouts but giving up 7 hits.
Against Lee, Cyrus Martinez led at the plate with 3 hits, and Dellinger picked up the win on the mound with 2 strikeouts while keeping Lee hitless.

Lady Trojans Struggle Against Huntington in Pre-District Matchup
On Friday, the Lady Trojans were outmatched 13-1 by the Huntington Lady Red Devils in a pre-district softball game.
The Lady Red Devils jumped out to a quick lead, scoring three runs in the first inning while holding Coldspring scoreless until the third. Abby Murphy managed to cross the plate for the Lady Trojans’ only run of the night.
Trinity Rosales took the mound for Coldspring and put forth a solid effort, but Huntington consistently found ways to score. The Red Devils racked up 13 runs on 15 hits by the end of the game.
Coldspring’s offensive highlights included Trinity Rosales, who went 1-for-2, along with Ashney Minor and Haylee Rosales, who each went 1-for-3.
On March 3, Coldspring beat Central Heights 3-2. Trinity Rosales, Ashney Minor and Haylee Rosales each had two its in the effort, and Trinity Rosales captured the win with 8 strikeouts while giving up only 4 hits.

The Lady Pirates took 8 innings to down Hardin-Jefferson 5-3 on Wednesday.
Adison Simpson led the offense with 4 hits, while Chloe Fuller’s 2 hits drove in 4 runs. Isabelle Hooper got the win with a whopping 18 strikeouts while giving up 7 hits.
