Improved local golf course now open for play

Dustin Lowery, the new lessee of the Livingston Municipal Golf Course, spoke to the Livingston Lions Club recently, sharing updates and improvements going on at the course.

The golf course suffered major damage during the spring flood and subsequent hurricane, to the extent that it was closed down.

Having earlier put out a request for proposals for the lease of the city’s golf course, the Livingston City Council in July appointed a golf course committee to review the proposals received and bring a recommendation back to Council for final decision.

Three proposals were received and scored and during its August meeting, Council approved awarding the five-year lease to Lowery.

Since then, Lowery has purchased new equipment and made enhancements to the pro shop, driving range and more. He is promoting youth golf with free play for all high school students and younger. He also plans to partner with local schools for turf education and beautifying the course through FFA greenhouse projects.

The pro shop restrooms have been upgraded and a new website has been implemented for easy tee time bookings. For additional information, go to livingstongolf.com.
