Yellowjacket Anglers are regional/state qualifiers
Two teams from the Chester High School fishing team have been very busy all year, working their way to qualify for championship tournaments and the state championship tournament.
Trayce Knox, Chandler Brock and Jackson Woodrome have competed in three high school tournament trails this year, from September through May: the Texas B.A.S.S. Nation, Southeast Texas High School Fishing and the Deep East Texas High School Fishing, and they’ve fished tournaments on Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend, Sabine River and the Lake O’ the Pines. The team of Knox and Brock have fished 21 tournaments, earning four top 20 finishes and Second Big Bass award this year, and Woodrome has fished 18 tourneys.
All three anglers qualified for the championship in each trail they competed in. They finished the year with their last championship for Southeast Texas last weekend, where they competed with 288 other high school teams. Knox and Brock qualified as regional qualifiers to represent Chester in the Texas B.A.S.S Nation Regional championship, where Woodrome earned his spot in the state championship tourney, which will take place at Cedar Creek in June, with a 23rd place finish and a two-day total of 10.62 lbs.
Combined, the three anglers brought an impressive 220.03 lbs. to the scales this year.
