Janelle Sidney Johnson of Warren, Texas, passed away on March 12, 2025, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.
Janelle, known by her family & friends as “Jan” or “Aunt Jan” was born March 9, 1936, to Chloyce Elizabeth Henderson-Johnson and Hardy Sidney Johnson in Houston, Texas.
She began her life’s journey in the oil field camps of Sun Oil in Hull-Daisetta, Texas. She graduated from Nederland High School in 1954. Upon graduation, she committed to her faith and joined the convent. After her travels to Rome and the Vatican, she became exposed to real life issues and decided her best life was to become the non-judgmental and giving person she was at heart.
She moved back to Houston, Texas, and let her natural talents lead her. She worked as a florist creating the most beautiful arrangements. Her adventurous heart led her to many careers from florist, self-employed antique restorer and sales, owner/operator of a Fina Station in LaBelle, Texas, window maker at Keller Industries in Woodville, Texas, to retiring from DuPont Beaumont Works.
She lived a very colorful, adventurous life but at the same time a very simple life. She only kept what she needed, the rest she donated to the unfortunate and charitable organizations she supported.
Janelle was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jeri Johnson-Speyrer.
She is survived by her nephew, Greg Askew, and his wife, Julie; niece, Joni Barrow and her husband, Ricky; the Jeff and Janet Turk family; and good friend, Mary Williamson.
The memories she left her family will always bring a smile and laugh to us all. Growing up with Aunt Jan was not only an adventure no one else could match, but some of the most wonderful memories anyone would cherish.
A graveside burial of her ashes will be at 11 am, Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Colmesneil Cemetery. 308
