The Lady Jackets picked up two wins this week starting with a 16-0 victory against Newton on Tuesday, March 11. The Lady Jackets got on the board early in the first inning scoring Lily Payne, Marae Pounds, and Allie Ogden. Top of the third inning Madi Ogden, Sadie Garsee, Lauren Citrano, and Lily Payne each hit and scored.
In the top of the fourth the Lady Jackets scored eight runs on three hits. Citrano singled scoring two, Ogden doubled scoring one, Emma Byrd doubled scoring one, and Madi Ogden hit scoring one. Allie Ogden earned the win allowing two hits, zero runs, four strikeouts, and two walks. Emma Byrd came in as relief allosing zero hits, zero runs, one strike out, and one walk.
On Friday, March 14 the Lady Jackets traveled to Colmesneil and took care of the Lady Dogs with a score of 20-3.
The Lady Jackets jumped on the Dogs early scoring 9 runs with Allie Ogden singling scoring one, Lily Payne was hit by a pitch scoring one, Emma Byrd singled scoring two, Madi Ogden was struck by a pitch driving in one with an error in the field scoring another two, Tegan Toler drew a walk scoring a run. In the third inning Byrd walked and Carlen Sluga hit a single.
The fourth inning came with another 8 runs with hits by Allie Ogden, Tegan Toler, a double by Lily Read, and a walk by Carlen Sluga. Allie Ogden and Emma Byrd each had 3 RBI’s, Lauren Citrano had two hits and two stolen bases, Tegan Toler paced with three walks. Allie Ogden earned the win allowing one hit, one run, two strikeouts, and two walks over two innings. Sadie Garsee threw one inning of no-run ball in relief, surrendering one hit, one strikeout, and no walks.
This week the Lady Jackets will play Brookeland on Friday, March 21 with a 4:30 p.m. start time at home.
‘Jackets take on Hornets
On Friday, March 14, the Yellowjacket baseball team fell to Hemphill 3-6. Jesse Bittick, Waylon Sturrock, Hayden Mahaffey, and Kasen Citrano each collected one hit. Sturrock led RBI’s with two. Sturrock was on the bump going 6 innings and gave up 6 runs on 6 hits, six strikeouts, and three walks. This week the Jackets will travel to Trinity on March 18 with a 6pm game time.
On Friday, March 21 the Jackets will host district opponent Brookeland Wildcats with a 4 p.m. start time.
