SHEPHERD — The Shepherd Lady Pirates faced a challenging matchup against the Diboll Lady Jacks, ultimately falling 51-33. The game highlighted both teams’ strengths, with Diboll’s size and experience giving them the upper hand despite a spirited effort from Shepherd.
The Lady Pirates posted quarter scores of 4, 10, 8, and 11 for their total of 33 points. Diboll outpaced them consistently, scoring 17, 15, 14, and 15.
Shepherd showed moments of promise, particularly during the fourth quarter when they began to find their rhythm. However, the Lady Jacks' early lead proved insurmountable.
Coach Eldridge McAdams acknowledged the difficulty of the game but emphasized its value in preparing the team for district play.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game as they had a lot of returning players, and they are tall and strong while we are short and fast. But with that said, we needed a game like this to get ready for district play," he said.
Top scorers were Addison Kowis with 4 points; Jazilyn Richardson with 8 points, including 2 from the free-throw line; Kiona King with 6 points, featuring a 3-pointer and a free throw; Da’kiyah Clark with 7 points, with 1 free throw; Kaci Roberts with 3 points (1 three-pointer); Torianna Wyatt with 3 points (1 three-pointer).
