TRINITY — A Nov. 12 win over Shepherd and a Friday drubbing of inter-county rival Groveton moves the Lady Tigers to a 4-0 start to the basketball season.
For Groveton, now that the volleyball season has ended, it was the team’s opening game, which they lost 66-32.
From the jump, Trinity outscored the Lady Indians, except for a 14-8 second quarter which sent the teams into the half with Trinity leading 22-16. In the second half, an explosive fourth quarter saw the Lady Tigers outscore Groveton 23-2, leading to the win.
Groveton Head Coach Rhett Peterson said the leading scorers were Kayleigh Albus with 9 points, Lauren Moore with 8, and Marie Gonzalez with 7.
For Trinity, top scorers were Olivia Mills with 21, followed by Bree Davidson with 11. Mariah Tyson led the defense with 8 rebounds, while Alexa Pruitt had 7.
On Nov. 12, Trinity kept the pressure up for three quarters and downed Shepherd, a 4A team, 46-30.
Top scorers were Mills with 21 points and Davidson with 9. Tyson had 11 rebounds in the effort.

The Bulldogs remain undefeated on the year after two wins last week, while the Lady Bulldogs posted a second loss on the young season.
On Nov. 12, the Centerville boys went on the road and pulled off a 53-47 upset over No. 15-ranked Richards. Richards went 10-0 on their home floor last year before advancing to the third round of the playoffs and returned nearly everyone from that team.
Centerville stormed off to a 30-10 lead at halftime before Richards caught fire in the fourth quarter, but Centerville got some key stops and clutch buckets to pull off the victory.
Top producers were Jake Slaten with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 steals; Kolt Larsen with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals; Hardy Brown with 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals; Wyatt Clede with 5 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals; and Braden White with 3 points and 4 rebounds.
The Centerville JV lost 32-22 to Richards JV.
Top scorers were Eli Emmons with 12 points; Chris Fry with 6 points; Brice Selman with 2 points; and Kie Barton with 2 points.
On Friday, the Bulldogs cruised to another road victory with a 68-21 win over Colmesneil.
Centerville jumped out to a 27-2 lead after the first quarter and never looked back improving to 3-0 on the season.

The Centerville girls lost 29-27 to Colmesneil on Friday.

The Centerville boys JV won 32-17 over the Colmesneil JV.
