Mark Leslie Martin, 71, of Colmesneil, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025.
Born January 15, 1953, in Tomball, Texas, to H. E. and Dorothy Martin, he lived in Colmesneil for many years. Brother Mark, as he was known, taught many young people in Colmesneil ISD, Chester ISD, and Woodville ISD. His passion and love for teaching led many students to pursue higher education, many through scholarships that he secured for them. But his true love was for our Lord and Savior. He pastored the Caney Creek Baptist Church for 23 years. His teaching did not stop at the school. The love of Christ was taught through his teaching of the Word where many gave their hearts to God.
Brother Mark was a true example with a heart for serving. Whether in the church or in the schoolhouse, his passion for life was evident in all that he gave and did for each soul he touched.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, H. E. Martin and Dorothy Lepp Martin; son, Richard Martin; father-in-law, Richard Bess; and brother-in-law, Kirk Bess.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Martin; daughter, Sarah Russell and husband, Stanley; grandchildren, Logan Primrose, Landen Primrose, and Gunnar Russell; mother-in-law, Lucille Bess; sister, Christy Frazier; nephew, Scott Frazier; brother-in-law, Kyle Bess, and wife, Joy; sister-in-law, Jan Benton; foster son, Lewis Cruz and wife, Idalia and a host of other family members and friends.
