Nellie Ruth Adams, 96, of Warren, Texas passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at Spanish Trail Assisted Living Center in Silsbee.

Ruth was born August 30,1928 to George Wesley and Fannie Tergerson Cook in Brownsboro, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George Wesley and Fannie Tergerson Cook, husband, John Max Adams Sr., and brothers Rudolph, Neilan, Leon, and G.W. Cook, along with sisters Fayrene Youngblood, Hazel Wyatt and Sue Olsowski.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Karen Talbert and husband George of Lumberton, and Paula Hinson and husband Randy of Village Mills, and Darla Scarborough and husband Rick of Lumberton; son, John Max Adams Jr. and wife Lori of Chandler; brother-in-law, Jerald Adams and wife Mary Nell of Warren; grandchildren, Bonnie Talbert, Bryan Gaspard, Keith Talbert, Blake Hinson, Kacie Quebodeaux, and Holly Baker; and numerous great grandchildren.

Ruth married John M. Adams Sr. in 1951. They spent 72 years together. They raised a family in Nederland, Texas and retired in Warren, Texas. They spent many years traveling, gardening and visiting family and friends.

As an educator, Ruth touched many lives. She began her career in Warren and Port Arthur school districts. She retired from Nederland ISD after many years of service.

Ruth was a devout Christian and attended Warren Methodist Church for many years with her husband John.

The family would like to extend thanks to Harbor Hospice and Spanish Trail for her loving care. 

There will be a private memorial service for the family at a later time.
