City lights up for the holidays on Tuesday

The City of Livingston will officially kick off the holiday season with its annual Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. Celebrate the sights and sounds of the holidays as the city is transformed into a winter wonderland of lights. Music will be provided by the Central Baptist Church Children’s Choir.

The Christmas Train Village, presented by the Polk County Heritage Society, will be available for viewing from Nov. 29 through Dec. 29 at Good Golly Miss Molly’s at 406 N. Washington. Hours are as follows: 5-7 p.m. Nov. 29-30; noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 1; 5-7 p.m. Dec. 5-7; noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 8; 5-7 p.m. Dec. 12-13; noon to 8 p.m. Dec. 14; noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 15; 5-7 p.m. Dec. 19-21; noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 22; 5-7 p.m. Dec. 26-28; and noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 29. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

The Livingston Area Community Band will present a Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. on Dec. 2 at First Baptist Church located at 106 Colt Rd. in Livingston. The band is under the direction of Joey Acker and will perform all Christmas music. Admission is free.

The Southeast Texas Swing Band will present its holiday concert, “Swingin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Polk County Commerce Center located at 1017 Hwy. 59 Loop North in Livingston. Immerse yourself in the holiday spirit as the band’s talented musicians bring classic Christmas carols and festive tunes to life. The band’s passion for music is evident in every note, creating a truly unforgettable performance.

The Onalaska Christmas Parade is slated for 6 p.m. on Dec. 6 in downtown Onalaska. The line-up will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Onalaska Fire Station.

First Baptist Church will present “A Night in Bethlehem” from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 6-8 at Pedigo Park.

The City of Goodrich will host its Christmas Market Day and Lighted Christmas Parade from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 7. Arts, crafts and food vendors will all be at Goodrich City Hall. Those in attendance can have their picture made with Santa Claus or the Grinch. Children ages 1-10 can register to win a bike or toy from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bikes and toys will be given away at 4 p.m. but children must be present to win. The City of Onalaska will present its 25th annual Christmas in Our Town from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 7 at Garland Pavilion in Onalaska City Park. Vendors will set up at 8 a.m. There will be drinks, food and music and a bicycle giveaway at 3 p.m.

Santa Claus will be at Miss Effie’s Cottage at 204 W. Mill St. from 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 13.

Livingston Hometown Christmas is slated for Dec. 14 with arts, crafts, food and gift vendors and the quilt show from noon to 8 p.m. The Jingle Bell Fun Run & Walk at City Hall will also happen that day, with the one-mile starting at 11:15 a.m. and the two-mile and 5K starting at noon. The Lighted Christmas Parade will kick off at 6 p.m.
