Livingston ISD’s band program continues to excel with four different bands competing in the two-day annual UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest held Tuesday and Wednesday in Silsbee and all four earning first division ratings.

The Livingston Royal Brigade Wind Symphony earned a superior rating on both the stage and sight reading portion of their evaluation. Combined with the program’s superior rating in UIL marching last fall, this earned them the UIL Sweepstakes trophy, the highest recognition a high school program can achieve.

“Congratulations to the LRB Wind Symphony on a hard-earned day at UIL Concert and Sight Reading,” LHS Band Director Emily Schoff-Albert said.

The Livingston Royal Brigade Symphonic Band received an excellent rating on the stage portion and a superior raring in the sight reading portion.

“Congratulations to the LRB Symphonic Band on their work at UIL Concert and Sight Reading today. We are super proud of all the work they do going into this evaluation,” Schoff-Albert said.

The seventh grade band earned straight first division ratings and won sweepstakes, the first time a Livingston Junior High seventh grade band has earned a Sweepstakes since 2018. The eighth grade band also earned sweepstakes.

“This accomplishment marks the first time since 1995 the Livingston band program has taken four ensembles – two junior high and two high school – and had all four programs earn a superior rating. We are so proud of all of our students' commitment to greatness throughout this process. The future is bright Livingston Royal Brigade,” Schoff-Albert said.

Livingston Junior High Band Director Jesse Albert agreed.

“This is the first time since 1995 that two competing Livingston High School bands received a first division rating of any kind. It is also the first time since 1995 that LISD has had four competing bands receive a first division rating of any kind,” Albert said.
