A variance request for Max Park LLC, Judy’s Mobile Home Park, 100 Reds Park to waive the concrete pad requirement to accommodate three temporary FEMA housing units was not granted by the Onalaska City Council during its March 11 meeting. Four council members voted against the request and one council member abstained.
Council approved plat submission for Morris Cove (containing six lots) 2.156 acres of land situated in the A.M. DeLaJarza Survey, A-43 Polk County, Texas and comprising Lots 27 and 28 of Tree Farm Tracts as shown by the plat recorded in Volume 6, page 47 of the plat records of Polk County, Texas.
The award of a construction contract for the General Land Office Regional Mitigation Grant Program Contract #24-065-049-E541 for the City of Onalaska Magnolia and Payne Street improvements was approved.
The 2025 Polk/Trinity County Basic Emergency Management Plan was approved as presented.
In personnel matters, Council approved Officer Britton Coby Shoellhorn as patrol supervisor with the standard probationary period, approved Joshua Jenkins as a part-time code enforcement officer and accepted the resignation of John Cleveland from fulltime status as of Feb. 28, 2025.
Reports were presented on behalf of the police department, fire department, fire marshal/fire inspector, building inspector/code enforcement officer and library representative.
Other business included approval of the minutes, payment of vouchers and financial reports.
