Over 260,000 pounds of recyclable material has been collected to date through the efforts of Polk County Recycling & Beautification (PCRB), a nonprofit organization that has partnered with Polk County to provide a reliable recycling service for the residents of East Texas, sustained by grants, donations and the sale of recyclable materials.
In addition to providing recycling services, its mission is to educate the community about the environment and support beautification efforts.
PCRB is now a Keep Texas Beautiful affiliate and as such, was more than willing to help out when Tim Spangler organized a neighborhood cleanup on the Forest Hills Loop. Volunteers from the Forest Hills Subdivision, along with Keep Polk County Beautiful’s program coordinator, picked up 170 pounds of litter along the 1.5 mile Forest Hills Loop on March 10.
Keep Polk County Beautiful – the beautification side of PCRB – provided litter grabbers, safety vests, trash bags and other assistance. They may be able to assist you in cleaning up your own neighborhood. Call or text 936-337-3315 or email PCRBTexas@gmail.com for more information.
In other upcoming activity, PCRB will host its annual Earth Day event from noon to 3 p.m. on April 13 at Tempe Creek Vineyard. Everyone is invited to attend the fundraiser for the organization which will include food, music and door prizes, in addition to upcycled art, a plant/seed swap, raffle, bake sale, games and more.
